JOB DESCRIPTION:
Junior
Counselors assist each counselor in leading a group of 16 children of
the same sex and age. These 16 campers remain together for the full
session and you will be "their JC". This continuity allows you to learn
and address the strengths and weaknesses of each child and helps build
those strong social bonds that will make camp so memorable for your
campers.
LOCATION:
Blach Middle School in Los Altos (Directions)
DATES
Session One: June 11 - July 6 (4 weeks)
Session Two: July 9 - August 3 (4 weeks)
JCs may work only one session. Please note your preference on the application.
DAYS/TIMES
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
SALARY
See Payscale. Payroll is processed every two weeks (twice per session.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have completed sophomore year in high school (*Exception: A former camper who was also a JCIT may apply after completing his/her freshman year.). Should be extremely responsible, athletic, be passionate
and knowledgeable about sports, be a very good student, play on at
least one school or club team, and love to work and play with children
ages 6-12.
EXPERIENCE:
No
experience necessary, but experience coaching/assisting with a youth
sports team, after school sports program, or at any summer camp is a
big plus.
EXTRA $$$:
Various
extra jobs (Beach BBQ, Extended Care, setup, end-of-session cleanup,
etc.) are offered over the course of the summer which provide an
opportunity for junior counselors to earn additional income.
TRAINING:
If hired you will be required to attend our weekend training sessions. Saturday June 9 (4 hours - time to be determined)
And/Or
Sunday June 10 4 hours - time to be determined)
INTERVIEWS:
We
will contact promising applicants approximately one week after the
March 15th application deadline to arrange for a 10-20 minute
interview. Interviews tentatively scheduled for the weekends of April 21-22 and April 28-29. Interviews are held in Los Altos.
